About the Author
Gordon Lee Chambers was born in Africa but has lived in Australia for most of his adult life. His passions have been raising his children, spending time with his friends, travelling and writing. In the late 1980’s Gordon had experience as a technical writer and then expanded this repertoire to travel articles and short stories. His storytelling for his own children resulted in several publications.
His book The Day My Father Dance Again, published in ’96, was motivated by his work with the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. In 1997 he was commissioned by the Darling Harbour Authority to write the film Reef Dreaming film script. The production on a giant water screen in Cockle Bay showcased indigenous Australians leading up to the Sydney Olympics.
Gordon is often writing, but the 2019 release of Searching for Monkumar was his first publication in two decades. The reviews for the book have been incredibly positive, and it is a highly encouraging return to the public arena for an inspired writer.

“Searching for Monkumar”.
An extraordinary tale by Gordon lee Chambers, a
quest for truth and hope, through friendship,
mysticism, music and spirituality. Discover the path
of gratitude and understand the power of
synchronicity.
An amazing and engrossing tale of a journey to find
that which is forever elusive.
Follow an epic pilgrimage of two lifelong friends,
wandering minstrels from West Bengal, as they
journey to Varanasi, the Kumbh Mela and onward
toward the source of the River Ganges high up in
the Himalayas.
This novel is set in India at the turn of the century,
this was where the original film material which
seeded the story was shot. Actually, were it not for
the original film footage which set the Indian theme,
the book could have been set anywhere in the
world.
It could just as easily be two Shaman walking
through central America; an Aboriginal tracker in
the heart of Australia; two monks escaping from
Tibet; two medicine mystics in Africa; Sufi poets in
Eurasia; or a couple of Christian mystics traveling
through Europe.
