As an author of Historical Fiction, I have written about the roles of women during world wars, women as spies, women on the front line as nurses, in WW1 and WW2, and in earlier history, women who made decisions to leave America during and after the War of Independence.  Many who left because of the violence. The women I write about set themselves apart from the current acceptable norms of the times.  When I began to write I knew I wanted  to  highlight the role of  nonconformist, brave women.
