This is the first story in Howard R. Garis’ Uncle Wiggly’s Story Book. This is a book that was my grandfather’s, and I used to read the stories to my daughters when they were young. And although the stories often include gender bias (sweet little girls and mischievous little boys) that was typical of its time, the stories are delightful. In this podcast I chose to exclude the one gender-bias sentence from the story.
