About the Author
As the author of The Art of Forgiveness: A Promise of Peace, Carolyn CJ Jones lived an unhappy childhood. There was abuse and trauma to deal with – physical, verbal, and emotional. To cope, CJ kept her rage inside, causing major depression that she hid.
There were good things about her upbringing. She began classical violin lessons and played for 50 years. She was a lead in the high school production of the musical Carousel. She left high school, attended Kent State University’s School of Nursing, and began practicing in 1974.
Rejected by her high school sweetie, CJ moved from Ohio to Greeley, Colorado with a high school friend. To cope with the pain of rejection, she began drinking heavily. She left Greeley to live in a ski town, while she skied and was a maid. There she met her future husband; they moved to Sausalito, California, to live
aboard a 43-foot sailboat. However, after three years, CJ left the alcoholic marriage.
CJ hit bottom with her drinking after being rejected by the love of her life at the marina. She quit nursing, got sober, and started her business, CJ Jones Speaking and Coaching. At four years sober, she forgave her parents. She experienced such peace that, through books and seminars, she began to teach others how to forgive.
Description
Using her life as an example, Carolyn CJ Jones shares a little bit about her upbringing and the trauma and abuse she suffered as a child. While at home, she learned to keep a smile on her face and her mouth shut. As an adult, CJ became an angry, bitter, blaming victim, and found fault with everything and everyone. She lets you see how she managed her feelings by drinking and drugging as they deadened the pain she felt. CJ relayed the journey that led her to her bottom with her 30-year drinking habit. It was an unrequited love that took her out. For seven years, CJ grieved what never was to be until she discovered five things about the rejection for which she could be grateful. That was a major turning point for her. Throughout The Art of Forgiveness are tidbits of wisdom that CJ learned the hard way throughout her life. Those bits of wisdom are life savers for you to use in your own journey to wholeness. Gratitude plays an important role in the process, as does positivity.
CJ shares the YIPPEE Method of Healing that she created to guide you through your difficult feelings to resolve resentment so you can heal. YIPPEE is an acronym that stands for Yearn, Investigate, Process, Practice, Evolve, and Empower. At the end of the Empower stage, you discover you have forgiven the offense, or you are on the verge of forgiveness, and you begin to gain peace. Each section of YIPPEE is powerful as you examine your feelings, your resentment. If you are searching for words, ideas, or wisdom to feel better, this book can help you get to that point.
