Mary Means tells listeners about her life in a magnificent memoir
In Something Worth Saving, the listener is introduced to the author, Mary Means. I haven’t listened to anything from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. This narration really brought this story to life. Mary brings the listener back to the 1960’s, where she grew up, closeted. She was a Lesbian growing up in Georgia, and having to hide an important part of her. Who and how she loved. She takes the listener on a journey of growing up, and her self-discovery. Not just her sexuality, but as an entire person. Her life that she shares, brings up trauma, triumphs, grief of lost loved ones, as well as having to be hidden. No one should have to hide who they are, and if more people acted as who they really are, then no one would have to hide. Magnificent story, kept this reader turning the hanging on every word of the story. Mary shows strength as a powerful woman, who took control of her life, and was brave enough to share her story with the rest of the world. I will definitely listen to more of Mary’s books. She is an amazing storyteller, and the narration emphasizes that. Something Worth Saving on audiobook is a definite listening recommendation by Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to listening to many more titles by this author. Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews recommends that anyone who listens to this book, to also write a review.
