About the Author

Dean De Servienti is the author of three novels. Quantum is the first of these novels to be translated to English, after achieving great success amongst Italian thriller readers. Quantum ranked #1 on Amazon.it for more than one month upon its launch in Italy.

At the age of seventeen Dean started to travel the world. As a Political Science university student he began exploring Western Africa, acquiring a deep knowledge of the territory and its people. In the ‘90s he moved to the United States where he produced several independent travel-adventure documentary series. His work has been licensed to more than 20 television channels around the world.

From 1991 to 1995 Dean followed some Non-Governmental Organizations operating in Africa and South and Central America. Since 2008 he mainly focused on literary production always using traveling as a source of inspiration and discovery.

Quantum (Book One) represents De Servienti’s vision (backed up by a very detailed research and little known facts) of a credible origin of life on Earth.

Dean is currently writing Book Two of the Quantum Trilogy.

A meticulous investigative thriller peppered with existential questioning via a hefty cast of defined characters motivated by money, power, and pure curiosity.

The well-researched story revolves around a recently discovered technological artifact which abruptly captured the attention of several prominent scientific experts from all over the world. Rumors of what they investigated remained highly confidential. Eventually, the lack of details drew the attention of veiled institutions who believe the artifact’s technology could impact the world’s existence. And selfishly, they want to be the ones in control.

As these shadowy characters converge on the technological artifact, this globe-trotting game of hide-n-seek turns deadly; and leads to discoveries about not only human history, but the planet’s as well.

This is a classic thriller where multiple sectors of people desire to attain something they know very little about. Dean’s stylish and DETAILED writing sets the tone for every scene. While there’s a lot of characters to keep track of and the pacing could seem tedious at times, you begin to appreciate the level of detail provided as it helps build up the magnitude of the overall plot and character motivations.

Since I listened to the audiobook, the author spared no expense in using a full cast of talented voice actors complimented by sound-effects to help one visualize what is playing out – especially during the action sequences. It’s cliched to say, but akin to the piece of technology at the forefront of the story coming to life, the author gives Quantum a life of its own from the very first page.

The discovery of a metallic cylinder, believed to have been lost for millions of years in desert rock sets into motion the clandestine retrieval of this ancient artifact. This artifact has repercussions that could change everything in an instant! Recognizing what they have, the six scientists who discovered it are on the run, hiding. Meanwhile, governments and others with more devious personal objectives try to find the location of the six scientists who have possession of the cylinder.

The author Dean De Servienti, masterfully weaves a realistic thriller that is captivating and fully immersive. Servienti skillfully integrates quantum physics into the story, making it accessible to those without prior knowledge. He vividly challenges the planet’s origin while immersing the audience in the storyline. His character development is thorough, and his dialogue maintains a brisk pace. The action flows smoothly and plot twists are exciting and well-executed.

The narrators delivered strong performances, effectively enhancing their characters’ personalities and essence. The sound effects were skillfully executed, and the cast collaborated seamlessly to bring the story to life. Surprisingly the storyline, although I expected it to be complex, remained straightforward.

The combined efforts of the author and narrators brought the storyline and characters to life.

There were no issues with the quality or production of the audiobook.
